my big boy fell asleep all by himself for the first time ever! AND he is sleeping in his own bed, in his own room for the first time as well! so many emotions. SO MANY.

happytobehere asked: hey there! you mentioned somewhere that you have a cat. i'm due with my first baby - a girl! - in about 2 weeks, and i'm wondering how you handled the cat/baby introduction? my cat is a total lover, so i'm not so much worried about them "getting along" as i am about the cat trying to snuggle the baby or get in the crib with her. any advice/suggestions? thanks!

auggie JUST started noticing the cats about 2 weeks ago. loki rubs his head on auggie’s hands to get him to pet him and pomme doesn’t want ANYTHING to do with him.

we didn’t really do much as far as introduction (our cats are lovey-doves too and aren’t biters or scratchers) but we did make sure to set them up their own bed area once auggie was born (they used to sleep in our bed, but i also wanted to avoid kitty/baby snuggling/suffocation in the night) and they seem happy with it. We shut our door at night (we co-sleeper) and try to give the kitties more love during the day.

so far, everything has been good. :)

rocknrolldomesticity: Dropped off a copy of the new album to the great folks at KZME today (Portland’s indie rock radio station) and Auggie got to meet Dennise, their promoter-extraordinaire, and hung out with all the ladies while I did an impromptu on-air interview with James, the program director for the station. He was a total peach the entire time and the interview went really well - got all my promotion points in and gave a good shout-out for our show tonight. AND to make things even MORE AWESOME, I found out our brand new single, which we just released this morning, got air-play on the big commercial station in town today as well! Getting more excited and sassy as the day goes on! Just wait until I get my fake lashes on - it’s gonna be outta control! today is fucking dominating!

i totally understand not wanting to circumcise your son (we chose not to circumcise Auggie) but i’ve asked pretty much every dude i know, cut and un-cut, and only one said they felt like it was any kind of issue for them (and that was my sister’s uncircumcised friend, who wishes his parents would have done it). none of the circumcised fellows said they felt like anything was STOLEN from them. matthew’s little brother was uncircumcised until he was 2 or 3, when he had to be circumcised for medical reasons. he’s the only person i know that would actually know the difference, but he doesn’t remember because he was so young.i know this is a big deal to some folks (ultimately, our decision was made out of laziness - one less thing to take care of in those first crazy weeks) but can everyone please stop acting like circumcising your son is parallel with giving him crack-cocaine on a regular basis?
